The sales dep't at Century Link will tell you that you need Actiontec, but virtually any DSL modem will work. They push Actiontec so they can get their cut of the pie.

I have Century link and a Netgear DGND3700 (Modem/ Wireless Router/ Hub). I prefer it over Actiontec. It's not hard to set up, either. If/When you do get it set up, email yourself all the information (login name/passwords/etc) and put it in your saved emails folder.
