 Central Nebraska | Since the drive still has some functionality it is not toast. Only once in 15 years have I had a drive fail to the point where I lost all data...and I've dealt with 100s of machines. Put the drive in a different computer as a secondary drive and copy your data off it. Put a new drive of your liking in your computer, buy a copy of Windows 7, reinstall your software, restore your data and have fun!
Is the drive making any odd noises. Your problem may actually be 100% software related. On several occasions I've seen abrupt power loss cause windows not to boot. A reinstall or repair of the OS restored full functionality.
BTW....the time I had a drive fail it was due to a power outage.....once I restored my data I started using an online service for backups as well. | |
