NW Illinois Stephenson county
I used to drink 1 or 2 Pepsis a day and I decided not to drink so much pop, like you when I went out to eat. A couple hunters would bring me a 12 pack every once in a while so we had some sitting in the kitchen for a long time ( the 'coons still had a can on occasion). The pop cans started to leak. First one then another then at a faster pace; so I would suggest giving them away before they leak. When I was young my Dad bought a 3 section bridge from the township when it was being replaced. The crane lifted the whole thing and sat it along the road for Dad to dismantle. He had heard that pop would loosen rust so he bought a 6 pack of Coke (in bottles then) and poured it on the big nuts on the bridge, which was shocking to us 3 kids because we only got to drink pop when we went to the county fair! Every nut came loose and we dismantled it with no problem using our 1935 JD B with a loader on to lift the girders. We reassembled the end sections on the same creek, but on our farm to get to a 17 acre field. Unfortunately He died and never got to drive over it. My brother and I finished and I used it several years and then a flood washed under the retaining walls on the ends and they broke. I had purchased the farm next to us and machinery was too wide to use it so I just went around. Every time I chopped hay I wish it was fixed, then I would have had a lot shorter route hauling in. I'm still going to fix it some day unless I croak too soon.
