It's a little ways from where you are talking, but I stayed at the West Des Moines Hampton Inn twice last winter while having Lasik surgery done and it was great.  I believe about $130 a night without discounts, and it would only be a 5-10 minute drive.  In fact, they have a shuttle van, might be worth a call to see if they would even run you down there.  They took me to the eye clinic, and took me out to a restaurant and picked me up after I was done eating both times included in the room price.  I was very happy with the experience, and their beds are maybe the best I've ever been in for a hotel.
