I've had this happen to me. If it goes to all black squares, it's a problem with the contrast. You can find this screen if you look in your manual. You'll probably have to blindly arrow through the screens until you get to it. Then hit the enter key on the right side pointing left and start tapping the down button until you can read the screen.
