north central Oklahoma | Hey. Bob, gots a financial question to pose.
Wife and I have a substantial nest egg built up, primarily from her last 30 years of employ matching 401K and decent returns, should have been more agressive at times, but so be it. We don't have that much left on house, 10 years maybe on this new one. We also see no sense in paying off 4-1/2% money on the house, so will likely let it ride. If/when the SHTF, banks will still want their monthly payments, will we be able to access our savings should we need it. I don't see a run on banks for cash since so few people use cash anymore anyway, but with financial institutions holding the funds, can one lose all that is theirs in those savings account. Seems like if the bank was reluctant in paying out accounts, we should also be the same in paying them what is due.
Am I looking at this wrong? | |
