Star Prairie, WI

Mike-

Is this what you saw?

M915/M872 piggybacking

Found this on the web, I've got a pile of pics from when I drove these critters back in the late 80s early

90s, need to get them scanned in one of those mythical "rainy days"

Trailer is an M872, 40 foot flat with locking pins to hold intermodal containers also.

Been 15 + years since I've been under one, but all 3 axles are suspended, just kind of a tridem

version of a walking beam suspension if I remember correctly. Picture in the link is of piggybacking

trailers for a road trip, most units have 2 trailers per tractor.  You can see that the suspension is plenty

stiff empty, back tires are in the air.

Truck + trailer combo is +-34000 empty, not a good candidate for OTR work!

Original version of the 915 tractor had BCIII Cummins @ 400 hp, and a Cat 16 speed powershift tranny.

Don't ask how I know that they will outrun any MP Humvee!  Most all of them have been rebuilt into the

-A4 version now, with Freightliner glider kits and I beleive Detroit S60/ Allison combo.
