I was thinking around $20 hour


I paid my brother $20 / hr this last fall. If your part-time guy is good, $20 is a great rate. After all you only pay him when you need him. We would start sheeling at 9AM and he would show up when we had the first truck loaded so he never made $20 / hr watching other people work. He too had no interest doing nothing.
