Strathcona, mn | I got started farming by doing hay. I was strapped for cash and didn't have any help so I went to bale baskets. I made a ramp so you could pin the tongues up and pull them with out the dolly wheel down. They traveled nice up to 5mph then. I sold most of my hay out of the field and either delivered and dumped it or they came and took basket home and unloaded. I only had one person mad at me for dumping their hay at their barn door and leaving. They bought the hay not my labor to unload it. I didn't need a pile of equipment. I had a 85hp tractor on a 13' hay one and a 48hp on the baler. The biggest improvement I made was getting a 12 wheel v take. Since then I have moved onto other enterprises but with a good work ethic it's a way to get some equity built up. | |
