Southwest OK | Depends on shipping distance. Cattle from local sales are only given antibiotics at receiving if they look rough. Cattle from Alabama, 23 hour ride from me, get either excede or micoti. Depends on weather. All cattle receive pyramid, presponse, and a seven way black leg also some form of injectable wormer and Ralgro. Castration and dehorning takes place first trip through the chute. I would rather just stress them once. Cattle have free choice high quality hay and mineral, hand fed pellets, and CLEAN water tanks. Most important thing to me. After cattle stop bawling they are hauled to grass or wheat pasture. Use a dart gun and draxxin to treat sicks. Baytril is second treatment. If they require a third they'll be brought in and put on wheat hay, alfalfa and corn ration. Medication at that point varies depending on cattle. Haven't given a booster in years. Doesn't fit my program and I feel that having them on pasture is more beneficial. | |
