Juneau, WI | If you plan on using the 20/20 as a hydraulic drive make sure you have a very strong radar signal. We had to add a separate radar solely for the 20/20. Pay very close attention to lift switch wiring and connections too. A bad connection makes the system think it's lifted so the drives stop. Lifting the planter is considered a normal condition so you don't get warned very quickly. We were one of the very unlucky ones to buy the system the first year. We still use the system and think we have most of the bugs taken care of but this last year I added a fail safe. Since we had mechanical drives I put one way clutches between the hydraulic drives and the main drive. I used the one way clutches found in Duo-Rate drive systems. I set the mechanical drives at my lowest population. If I stop and take off I miss 2 feet. No need to back up or hold the load switches. If you start a field and forget to engage the hydraulics. Turn it on and keep going. I was worried the system would get confused with the ground drives connected but we never had any issues with that. The one way clutches on the original mechanical drives get a workout so we oil them often. | |
