Downtown Shell Knob MO Come Visit! | I don't see how you guys are getting your cows to eat so much more hay processed or in a ration. I have cows that will eat 70% of a bale of straw or junky ragweed hay if I just give them the bale. But If I mix 20-30 % straw in a tmr ration my waste goes from 5% to 20% because they sort and refuse so much more. Id rather waste 30% of the straw and have them eat 15% more of the good stuff. If I mix 40-50% straw in the ration they will refuse or sort half the ration. If I mix straight straw in the tmr, they will eat about a 1/4 of it even though they would have eaten 70% of it before it was processed. |
