17821x, To answer your ? , the plug in model will use very,very little juice. You could run a remote feed from the neighbors, install a switch at the fence so you can cut off when need to. The solar units are very reliable as well they just cost a little more for the same output, also there is the battery maintence question, and finding a suitable location to get max sunlight to recharge the battery. Please follow all directions of the unit, for ground requirements it really make a difference in the units operation. Good luck and good grazing! Also use good quality off set system, stay as far from barb-wire as possible, it can be a source of headache's.
