Beresford SD | Recently finished that book. The author wrote much about the mistakes that were made and consequences for the people , sort of like there was no way to anticipate such a disaster. By comparison , there was little discussion about the grass that was there for centuries before , or the buffalo that roamed consuming the grass and were suited to the climate year around. And the native Americans who were driven out. The cattle that were supposed to replace buffalo could not survive the winter, most of the big beef empire went down.
Today we have some buffalo meat in our freezer, it is good stuff. I cannot help but wonder if our current system of food production has some as yet unlearned links to several of the medical issues dealt with in today's culture. | |
