Yep, Tim Egan. The Dust Bowl was something I'd only heard of before I read his book, might've been a foot note in some history classes in elementary school and high school. I cannot imagine how terrible things were, and it really wasn't that long ago if you think about it. It was interesting reading about the Dust Bowl and then reading in magazines and websites that we could plant 98-100 million acres of corn next year, and seeing lots of pastures and such torn up around here. Kind of gave me a bad feeling, what with the drought we've got going.
