| The death tax is the final punishment to farmers and their families for years of hard work, good management, and financial risk. If anyone thinks that wealth redistribution through the death tax is good for family farms, wait until you have to bid against a group of investors, corporations, or even other countries for the 80 acres next door that comes up for sale because of the "estate tax" laws! These laws were put into place, not to protect the new guy trying to get into farming, but to provide an open door for corporate ownership of farm land. Landownership would enable vertical integration in crop production just as it has in chicken, hogs, dairy, etc. The income from this confiscation tax has little or no affect on the nations budgetary needs. Good Day. | |
