Mark, I'm sorry.
I've been where you are. 12 years ago now we were living at the local children's hospital praying our son would survive a malignant brain tumor. He died in April the following year. It's more painful than anyone can imagine. Children are a gift not to be taken for granted. As you said, give them an extra hug and count your blessings.
