| I think your moisture meter is in error because 1.176 is the theoretical moisture weight per percent of moisture in the grain. You would be more accurate to measure a constant volume and weigh it to see the moisture change than using a moisture tester of ill repute. I've rarely hard of a farm moisture tester that agreed with the one at the elevator and that may partly be due to different sampling and different samples, though I've taken the same sample from my meter to the elevator and got a different number.
