I think you are alright in your thinking that far north and from what I have witnessed. We just harvested some twin row compared to 30 and 15 inch. My twin row had less yield but I think the population was too high. The 15's were almost as good as the 30, pretty much a toss up, but the 30 inch row was consistently better where the late foxtail that came in the August rains were controlled. Where they broke through it was the worst though it was small in acreage, the 7's and 15's were better because of better canopy and less break through.
