What settings are you running in the config screen? Is it possible you have the max disk rpm set too low? Or is it possible that your hydralic drive is not gear up high enough to get the rpm you need for higher speeds.
I think I am running the same system you are but on a 2600 screen in corn. So far I have not had the problems you are discribing.
