Subject: Re: Wheat harvest in Kansas.. getting fried.

I just got in from walking some of ours.. wow.. this thing is going downhill fast.  I think the drought stressed some of ours to mature faster.. then we got cold enough to nip some with a freeze event..  There are whole fields of white heads now.. last week I was hoping for 30 bu wheat.. now I wonder if this will make 20..  It's real weird.. the outside border is green as a gourd.. but after about 3 to 5 feet in it starts going south fast..

Is it the drought..?  Is it the freeze?  Diease?  Or all of the above...???

The irrigated looks better and may still do okay.. and there's some late planted dryland that looks good.. but golly some of our heavier ground has just flat out got smoked here over the past couple of weeks.

How big is this area.. is it just us in South Central Ks..??

edit add: btw this ground was sprayed with a ground rig with Quilt.. we should have gotten good penetration.. but man just flat out smoked it since...  This pivot corner is almost totally white now.. there may be some berries out in it.. but "not much" it's almost totally done..
