I too, met Loren Kruse about 25 years ago and was extremely impressed to say the least.  He is a very real person and a joy to visit with.  For a person in his position he is not the least upity.  Like others, I dropped my sub to SF years ago and still get the free ones from time to time.  I used to read it as a teenager but lost interest as I "grew up".  After I met Loren I re-invented an interest for a few years, mostly just to read his editorial because I was so impressed with him.  Few men that I meet impress me so totally as did Loren.
