I run a few sites myself (non agriculture-related, yet), and mainly you start with what you want to do, then focus on how you want to do it, then think about a domain name.
If you want to get a domain name, go with someone besides GoDaddy, I've had nothing but poor experiences with them, even though their prices are the best. You are talking about a couple of dollars a year difference, and a better experience with someone like http://dnsimple.com or http://domains.com.
