NW Washington | As mentioned earlier a rotary combine has to grip the straw/MOG to auger it through the combine. If you open the concaves too much the rotor loses its grip and then you get roping and other problems as the MOG get balled up and does not flow through smoothly. Years ago a CIH tech rep told me that this was on of their biggest headaches with new rotary combine operators.
So close the concaves when the going gets tough. | |
