| Fiber optic is not a waste. Many things use wireless internet but those speeds are greatly limited. Fiber can send more than one signal at once, which greatly increases bandwidth. Reliability is also an issue. Wireless is easily slowed by walls, microwaves, solar flares, storms, etc. Where fiber is tucked safely under ground. Plus now google is saying they can have internet speeds at over a Gigabit per second. Wireless isn't even close to this. Wireless is needed for smaller businesses and low bandwidth areas. But the backbone of the internet is fiber optic cable. | |
