I don't know if this was mentioned before or not, but if you going to hire your harvesting done one of the first considerations is matching your planter to whoever is going to harvest your row crop and matching the tractor to the planter. If your land is relatively flat maybe you can get by planting with a smaller planter than than the combine head will be, but I wouldn't like it. For instance if your row crop corn will be harvested with an 8/30 head I would hate to plant with less than an 8/30 planter. And sometimes you can buy an 8 row cheaper than a 4 or 6 row planter. So then you would need 75 to 100 hp to pull an 8 row. An older tractor of this size could probably be bought a lot cheaper than a new small Kubota or something similar. And if you are not going to buy the small one new you could easily end up with a repair bill just as big on a small tractor as on a larger one.
