Subject: Which 2440?

Eastern VA. No such thing as too many Magnums.
They made two styles of 2440s. The early one was identical to a 2030 with new sheet metal, hood sloped up towards the front and it had plain yellow stripes with black letters. Then in 1980 they updated them. The newer ones were supposed to have a bit more capacity. The new one had a hood that sloped downward toward the front and it had the striped decal where it said "2440". The late also had a slightly updated dashboard and a hand parking brake in addition to park in the transmission. 2440 and 2640 were the last utility tractors Deere made in USA. The 3 and 6 cylinder of the same year were German. We had good luck with 2030s and 2640s. They were ok for what we did with them. They were very simple and reliable. Here are pictures of the two styles.
