Many thanks to Von  for promptly  going to some trouble in answering my request for help in how to imbed pics in this post !!!     In recent  years around this time, I have usually posted some pics of our crops.   Also, in recent years it seems I  have mostly had to indicate  that we've had a poor season. This year I am pleased to say that has changed somewhat.   It still needs to be acknowledged that I farm in a semi-desert environment.. even in  a good season.   My annual average precipitation is  280 mm,  (11.02 inches ) ( over 83 years..although I haven't reached that age....yet. ) On average to the end of September  I would  expect  218 mm ( 8.58 inches), and  as at  29th Sept 2010 I've recorded 292 mm, or about 11.5 inches.   Not massive, but for us, quite good.  Definitely above average.    The pics all feature my 6 yo Grandson , Marcus.   Of course I didnt select the worst spots for a pic  : )     Below: My neighbours canola.... post peak flowering.  I don't normally grow canola, can't seem to get along with it.    It is decidedly a  minor crop in this area, but there are some spectacular examples this year.

Below:  Vetch and Peas, with a  trace contaminant of canola.  I plan to spray this off shortly and kill it, and I planted it with this in mind..  The purpose was to grow some nitrogen, and  deal with a developing grass weed problem. Most people this year have been caught with unexpected burdens of grass weeds in their cereals, particularly bromegrass. I am one of that group.
In the past my pics have  often featured Wrex the retired Wonder Sheep Dog.   Unfortunately  Wrexie departed this earth about  3 weeks ago after 16.5 years of faithful service and friendship. I miss him greatly. Here he is pictured in December 09 with my 2.5 YO  Grandaughter, Olivia
