Go the extra mile on this one. Nothing like future problems to give you headaches. Stand your ground against his adjuster and get another reputable contractor or cleanup crew to stand behind their decision. Make sure you go over the fine lines.
Do not settle for less. It is your house...where you live and you need to be able to live there for a long time with no future headaches.
