Central South Dakota | I say 12 row cornhead, if you can't keep up with the trucks or cart, shut the combine off for a bit. You will do just as many acres a day, put less hours on your combine. I don't understand why guys like to run small heads on big machines just so the combine is always moving, but when they go to trade machines they wonder where all the hours came from. We run 16 row planter and a 12 row head works good 98% of time, odd occassion we have to pick up 4 endrows, planting with SF2. Thought 16 was a big planter, now most guys have 24row, and we have some going to 36 and 48 row bauer bar planters, so who knows what the standard size will be, guess it is what's best for you. | |
