I would also preg the cattle in the spring as you could end up with some breds I would not figure on any cattle operation if I did not have at least a headgate and a couple of decent pens to work with. Figuring the death loss is good but having no way to help prevent it would be especially bad . For example foot rot , pink eye pnemonia . Cheap LA will do wonders for that but if you have no way of treating timely it will eat into your profits . A lot of this stuff comes up and is second nature when you are doing it. It sounds simple till you put it all down what needs done. Makes me wonder how come I started in it somedays . It was probably the allure of getting rid of some of that old hay that dad had sitting doing nothing but rotting and I thought I'll bet I can change that into dollars through some of these cattle and then a sucker was in the game. lol | |
