Eddie, I know you will find something to object to about everything I post but I do think it is important for someone buying even cull cows in the fall to have them poured for internal parasites and vaccinated. Cull cows have probably not had any recent vet attention. Maybe the seller or sale barn could treat them before they arrive but someone needs to pour and vacinate them at least once, preferably as they arrive. With a lot of cows in a dirt lot as you suggest it just takes a few sick ones shredding various ailments in the manure and before long the whole group is sick, not gaining weight and increasing death losses. I think this is another reason to use some pasture if available. I feel some vet expense needs to be figured into the economics of this plan. jmho. Jim at Dawn
