Subject: RE: Grazing Calves, 2.5 to 3.5

Calves have only been weaned for 10 days. Have been running on dry lot with cows we were finishing, Have been on creep since birth, good milk from a cow on a 56meg ration. Also I know several of them ate some with cows. Now trying to decide if I should just put them in lot and get them rolling to mkt at around 12 mo of age or run them on this forage through fall. I do have a silo with earlage in it right by yard I could supplement with. you feed them that strait? I see both benefits, better mkts in mar and april but would prolly gain pay wt by grazing but more than likly push them out to june. Also would free up my pen in feedlot to do a turn of yearlings before I put these in lot for last 100 DOF. Any thoughts? Thanks
