Subject: RE: seasonal cow prices and feeding cull cows

N FLA
Several reasons:
1. Because he owns a chopper and not a combine. And silage wagons and not grain buggies.
2. It was a hybird with very poor grain quality, but good feed value. It would have made piss poor grain.
3. He has 3, 3000-6000 head dairies as neighbors and thought he could move it later. Once they bought what they wanted for the year, they didnt want any more.
4. I dont think I mentioned grain corn brings a premium here, actually it is very difficult to cover land rent, N,P,K, irrigation, fungicide, and insecticide with 180 bushel grain yield. I said, I think if we start buying and hauling grain, that the cost of gain will probably exceed the value of the gain, or else everyone would be buying calves and feeding them purchased grain.
5. Sometimes you just have to make a decision and its not always the right one Eddie.

Do you have any useful suggestions.
