| I live in a world I truly do not understand.
I will be 60 this year, and things have really changed, better and worse.
My 36 year old daughter Told me that the United Methodist Church is/was the church of the greatest generation (WWII). I wanted to disagree with her, but she was right. The same can be said for most main line churches.I thought about this and came up with some reasons.
1.WWII folks Knew what it was to be without, and were thankful, really thankful.
2.They vowed their kids, (boomers) would not be without, so parenting changed, Kids thought they had a right to plenty, responsibility was downgraded.
3. WWII families being thankful, and humble attended, joined church. They understood community (military, war production)

rights.....me me me...... not community, not joiners, distrust gov. = boomers
responsibility...... others,others,others... community, joiners= WWII generation
I have asked my cousin and his family to church, and my request was treated like a joke.
We are called to be faithful, not necassarily suuccessful.
Is it me or doesn't the church speak the language of the culture?
