west central Iowa | Those short flat strap between the rows of teeth, have different angles on the ends. By turning them over, or changing leading end, you can change spike tooth angle. Be careful I think there is a bushing on each end that can fall out. We have also shortened the heavy front chain to raise the front 2 rows. This was more to help stalks start under the harrow mat, but helped a little with bean stubble. We helped our machine, but never really got it solved. We went No-Till shortly after, and didn’t pursue the issue. That was behind a 7700 combine, didn’t process the stalks like our 2388 does now.
When Deere delivered it, they actually had the teeth pointed forward. That didn’t work very well either.
