A lot of times a ride to town in trailer in fact help cow roll them around and get them presenting right. Happened to me many a time. You did the right thing if you couldn't untwist the calf on the farm.
x2, it's not time to 2nd guess yourself, you got a live calf, and the cow will see another day.
