Yes, probably a good plan.

When I went to Tech school they advised to "never fix something in front of the customer". If you know what you are doing and maybe get a bit lucky you fix the problem in short order and the customer complains because you charged too much for such an easy job. If on the other hand you have some problems and need to redo it or it takes a lot of time, the customer will claim you don't know what you are doing. I suspect this is why some repair places force you to leave the item and come back later.

When I worked as a sprayer Tech we did not have that luxury at times because the customer needed the item immediately. Of course that only tended to reinforce some to put things off until the last minute. Really can't win sometimes.
