NE SD | Have to agree with you here Mark. I know our situation is different with the big square wide open fields, but we don't do much backing up in the field. With the 60' planter it has gotten harder to make the corner going into the headland and does require backing up into a few corners, but most are being stretched anyhow. Almost all have rounded corners for the air seeder doesn't seed for 30-40' when you take off in planting gear if you do try to back into them. As for tractors that don't kick out such as those with Trimble, they will try to turn and play games on you if everything isn't perfect. Not that hard to hit a resume switch IMO. After having almost all of our fields in Autosteer now for several years, we have been recording the headings Mark. Pull into the field, punch in the heading, center the line the distance away from the fence you want and go. Planting back between corn rows can present a problem if you don't have the heading exact. Besides that, a field looks pretty with pefectly straight edges and headlands. |
