Can someone enlighten me as to how this cylinder comes apart? It's off a 2410 Chisel Plow. I thought I would have found an internal snap-ring inside th barrel a ways after I took the round ring off the end of it. I was able to tap the endcap in after doing that, but there is no snap-ring.

I think you need the plastic ring (should be included in the seal kit) that fills the groove you have now exposed so the end cap can be pulled out. I think the snap ring is in the end cap........I asked a Deere tech about a similar cylinder, I've never needed to disassemble one.

I think I remember seeing that plastic ring. I will try that tomorrow. My service guy was busy all day today, might be able to look it up tomorrow. Thanks for the reply.

IF I remeber right, this type of cylinder requires a plastic tool. If you have the seal kit, I think it should have a tapered plastic tool/ ring you put into the pictured internal snap ring grove. It just fills the grove and keeps the hidden snap ring compressed on the end cap and lets it slide out of the bore.

Be sure to put the new piston rings in hot water while you are disasembiling the old, makes them much easier to go on. It will still be difficult though....
