Took me a while to get some pictures, but here they are. The original engine spun a rod and this one is out of an 8050. Pretty sure that's why dad had to re-locate the exhaust. Really helps with the visibility. If AC had done this when they were new, it would have solved a lot of complaints about the cab. Ohio | I don't think theres anything that can make those tractors better. My grandpa bought a 7000 new in 1976. I asked him several months ago why he didn't buy a Deere. He said that you couldn't find any. I hate that tractor with a passion. The cab sucks, transmission sucks and it rides like a tank. 3rd gear is to slow and 4th is to fast even with the 3 speed power shift. There's a 4mph difference between 3rd over and 4th under.

There is a big difference between the 7000 and the rest of the series. They do ride like a tank and the cab pretty much sucks. I like the 6 speed powershift in this one, though. One tough old tractor. AaronSEIA

Central Iowa | I personally like the 7000 series. My ol' 7050 is still getting the job done for a pretty small investment. I don't use it hard for tillage and such anymore, but it does a great job for loader and general "utility" work. I also find the cab much easier to get in and out of than the soundgard cabs of similar vintage. I guess to each his own, as they say. I am gonna keep this one around for as long as I am farming. Looks awfully scabbed-together to me but as in most in cases: function over fashion.

Kingston,Mi | A instructional seat in that cab consists of a pad on the fender with the window opened. Our Conservation District leased 1 with a 8 row IHC 800 planter from a farmer for several years and the ride around to familiarize the renter with the tractor and planter was to literally sit on the fender in the open window.

That's how my wife rides with me if it's not too cold. My boys just fight over which side of the back window to sit in. I've had all 4 of us in it at once, but I wouldn't want to spend the day doing it. Dad's 3140 Massey's would be better for that. AaronSEIA

Our 7080 has had an muffler set-up similar to that for several years. Sure does make a difference on being able to see, especially with the 470 loader on it.

Schomberg, Ontario, Canada | I'm 6'4" and 250lbs, and I can get in and out of my 7020 and 7060 just as easy as a Deere Soundgard, or an IH with a 'suicide' door. I will admit that they are a little narrow, but once you are in it, there isn't much of a problem.

Washington Co Ks | I had a 7050 for quite a few years. It was a good old tractor except for the ride. The newer tractors have some features that are nice but the thing that I enjoy the most about my Deere & CaseIH is the ride. The AC also left a lot to be desired but that may have been par for the course in those years.
