Looking at tractor data .com and it showed Case IH and the green Steiger made them in 1987 and it had 525 hp. I have never seen or heard of one before and would love to see a picture or hear some feed back if anyone has ever run one.

North Liberty and South Bend, Indiana
They are absolute hogs! I doubt even todays 500 horse tractors can pull like those two could. 1150 cubic inches of pure power equates to enough torque to alter the rotation of the earth.

It's interesting that it didn't have the 1000 series cab. Were the newer chassis not up to dealing with the 1150?

Thanks,

Pat

The cab wouldn't pass OSHA's spec's for roll over due to the weight.

Curious what the difference in price between the 1150 and the 15 litre used in the stx tractors. The gravel crusher outfit that come's to our place uses some of the 1150, they call it a K19 and they claimed a new canadian engine was 70,000 dollars. They have a payloader with the K19 and its been in trouble more than once.

Relatives work with crushers and use the 1150 in loaders and for power plants, new Q series (QSK I believe), are happy with them but when you run 24-7 52 wks/yr the hrs pile up.

Loved the N series cummins because they were so cheap to repair compared to Cat, the Q series are still cheaper than Cat but the price gap has narrowed.

K series were always expensive to repair, they had used some K's in the 38 liter(V block) configuration but the fuel efficiency of the Q series K 19 liter producing same horsepower has caused them to discontinue use of the old style 38 liter.

K series in the old Buds were workhorses but you could ( and would) drop 25K into an overhaul.

The 9190's have all disappeared into specialty operations, the SP sprayer and glyphosate killed the 80" cultivator and for other uses the lighter tractors were plenty good.

Toss in the Cat farm tractors and they had had their day by 1990!

I don't know anything about them. I just got them off the internet. Enjoy!

There was only one production run of the 9190 and Tiger Series IV after Tenneco merged Steiger into Case IH. There were 10 tractors total of which four were 9190's and six were Tigers. Back in that time the whole industry was down and demand for the tractor was low. The engineering cost to update the tractor could not be justified at the time. Hope that helps.

There was one on tractor house for a long time. Said it was 600 hp, had a tile plow on it. It looked very nice.

I know where 2 of the 4, 9190's are located. One is in Florida and another is in Hawaii both working on sugarcane plantations.

It is a Tiger IV conversion and I think both of those in the pictures are conversions. It's been a few years ago since I was looking at one of the orginal 9190's but the two I've seen didn't have the "Tiger" logo on the hood.

Just saw this thread, I think I read somewhere, and if I remember right didn't all of the true 9190's go to Australia?
