Do you think boerson paid stamp anything under the table in reward/reinsurance that boesrson would end up with everything?

Give it time. Boersen bailed out a 10k acre guy in our area about a month ago here. It has been interesting to watch the activities lately.

I guess if he can bail someone out with that many acres and keep going good for him. But like anything else is that the story about taking 10k over from another guy I bet is not true. By the time it gets here most rumours are false. I find if I worry less what big B is doing and worry about what goes on my farm the better things go for me.

It's funny that nothing happens in my area like you guys mention on here. Rent is CHEAP round these parts and I don't think I have ever heard of someone paying more than $50 an acre!

There will be a time when the fat lady signs.Plf u have to.understand his operation he has divisions that farm in certain areas so when.your clay is ready he there no he won't wait till one little wet is dry for a 1000 acres to be ready he also hires that local help that know them areas. I'm not a fan of his but.he.is doing it right we have.truck him over 1000 tons of lime in the last 2 weeks.for.some of fields. How many of you are.cutting back on your fertility this year!

I don't know. I'm surrounded by big farmers (not 80,000, but big to me). I know I'm second fiddle. I know the fuel guy is going there first (and the fertilizer guy and the chemical guy and the mechanic and probably the mailman too!). I know I'm not getting the same price on equipment as they are. I'm just going to plug along and do the best I can. If these mega farms can over bid me then I guess they can. I'm not going broke trying to keep up with those guys.

+1 If you spend that much time worrying about what someone else is doing you're not watching your own operation close enough.

you are right , you need to watch what you are doing , but you also need to watch out for others, because if you don't know what others are doing ,you might lose all you have worked for! this guy isn't a neighbor or a friend ,he eats others! you need to know how to deal with this type.
he may do everything right , but in the end is he right to screw others 100-150 miles from home out of what they have worked for? after its just busness right!!!

That's the approach you have to take, we are bleeding land quickly. At the end of the day we just take care of what we have and pay till it hurts. But when the asking price is the life of our farm we draw the line. In time they will understand that if it is the natural resource they want we were their cheapest labor force and once again it will be the family size farmer. Unfortunately it is this generational group that gets screwed in the process, my solution is just to own what we can and change lifestyles to accommodate the hardship. Occasionally there are landowners smart enough to understand that, fertility, drainage and a respect for the land (think wind erosion) is valuable enough to keep a good farmer on the ground. More valuable than short term gain, I know its getting harder to find landowners that are that intelligent.

I've often wondered how much large scale production Ag (the rape and pillage type) will gravely affect farmlands ability to produce quality&quantity crops in 50 years?

O.M. levels are largely lower now then 50 years ago cause of plowing and erosion.
What will P/K/Ca O.M. levels look like in 50 years on some of this countries best soils if always rented to the highest bidder and quickest buck today?

I ALWAYS try to stay as competitive as I can and good to my landlords, but sometimes its tmcomplete insanity what some folks bid/promise and LL.

Not sure I buy all of that. Heard from more than one person about poor quality grain coming from them. With this much corn inventory any buyer would be foolish to pay one grower more than the other when there's plenty of corn to meet their needs. He's picked up thousands of acres just this year, hard to do much future contractig last year on those acres.

As others have mentioned farmings a little different for the the guy who doesnt have to worry about even coming close to breaking even on $3 corn.

All you guys who are saying quit complaining and put some skin in the game are, well, dumb. Ha. If you wanna get in a peeing match on rent just to keep some fields to go deep in the red have at it. You are going to sign on to a 3 year $550/acre deal for ground that at it's very best will do 180 bpa irrigated? No thanks. I rather get on here and complain lol

My biggest wonderment about it all is WHY?? If I had the kind of money everyone rumors he has I think I would farm enough to scratch the tractor driving itch and try to enjoy life. 100K acres is a little to stressful for me lol

Southern Missouri
We have a man in the Mid south area that owns 175000 acres of precision leveled irrigated farmland, several banks, the largest hvac distributorship in the United States, the most acres of citrus of any grower in Florida, larger even than companies like Sunkist, multiple cotton gins, and it was all put together in the last 45 years by him and his father from the humblest of beginnings, would not call him arrogant at all and the best part is they don't cash rent a single acre from anybody or have any desire to.They rent all of it out most of it crop share rent, they will show up at most of the land auctions and they are pretty hard to outbid unless your Warren Buffett.

Just curious, how does someone keep track of thousands of acres like what he farms. It's not like you pull in to an 800 ac. farm and it all lies in one field. I know he probably has it broke down into sections, areas or whatever. Plus to keep track of everything that goes along with it and being able to sleep at night wondering if he is going to get it all in or all out. I know he is gone some in May - Sept. pulling so he probably doesn't know what has been planted, sprayed or harvested.
