Ohio | Looking at getting a set of floaters for the sprayer. Looking at getting 650 65r 38's but a few guys have said we won't be able to steer it. Fertilizer plant has them on there 4730 sprayer and gets a long fine. Are the hydraulic pumps different from a 20 to a 30 series? Anyone have floaters on their 4720 sprayer and if so what size? Thanks |

| I think that's what I have. Wanted a size bigger but didn't want to alter my fenders. Made a machine out of it. |

Ec Indiana | We've run them for 10 years on a 4720 and one yr on 4730 with no problems. We run them almost all yr. put small ones on for 1 pass in the summer , otherwise we run wide tires. |

| Had a set on a 4710 and did fine. Actually had the same set on a 4830 "had to get different wheels" and now have a new set on a 4038. Still have 3 tires and four wheels that fit a 4830 would let them go pretty reasonable if anybody is looking. |

Ohio | Do you guys think it is worth it for the floaters? We would use them for post and pre emergence and maybe some for top dressing wheat. Trying to talk myself into spending 10 grand for tires. |

C KS | Worth every penny so many times over. I went through the same decision. There is such a world of difference with floatation tires. All the stories on here from unbelievable increase in ride quality to walking on water are accurate from my experience. |

Northwest IL | We added that size tires to our 4720 two years ago. Without them we saw major compaction issues getting corn out of the ground when we followed the planter spraying(if we got off the row).They have made a big difference, kind of "cashy" but I just saw a used set sell at a farm sale two weeks ago and they brought $7500 so they hold there value. Brandon at Dawson tire in Nebraska was the best deal anywhere and they came on OEM rims.

Southeastern IL | We ran 710's on a 4720 for 3 years with no problems. Loved them!! And now have 710's on our 4830. Find a used set (30-40% tread) of 710-70R38's and get a new set of 23x38 wheels from Harrys and you'll have the best set of floaters you could ever ask for on a 4720. Should be able to find the used 710s easy and you'll have around half in what a new tire/wheel combo will cost you. They clear the fenders also.

NESD | Put the floaters on and you will feel like you gave it another 75 HP, you won't want to take them off when you really need to. |

NE SD | I put them on my 3320 last year and love them for pre-emerge work. I used to follow rows and now I just set the auto steer and let it go. Sometimes the corn comes up better/faster where the tire track ran over it. |

Glad Valley SD | What about floaters for a 4700? How big can a guy go? Currently running 13.6 38s. Needed a little more last year. |

NESD | The largest tires I have seen on 4700 is 18.4 x 38, they worked very well. |

NESD | Wheel motors I would say very little, planetaries maybe, but I doubt that you would see any issues, My perspective has always been that the larger tires roll easier on top of the ground than the skinnies roll thru the ground always trying to climb out of a rut that it is actually easier on the power train with the big tires.
That's my story and I'm stickin to it ! |
