Central NE | bought a 1770 16-30 at an auction. Setup for seedstar monitoring but no moniter or wire harness included. I ordered JD part # RE60315 but it arrived and does not match the planter end. any help or pictures appreciated. I don't know where to go from here. Calhoun County, IL | In order to connect it to your planter you need to order #30 and #31 from your diagram above. #30 will connect your fold box to the harness. #31 be where the planter harness connects to. It attaches to the RE60315 harness where the 2 deutsch connectors and the red and black wires are. What kind of tractor are you using to pull it? Edited by Ridge Runner 4/7/2010 15:20

Calhoun County, IL | No, you shouldn't have any problems as far as I know of. Good luck with your new planter.

Central NE | I added a picture to my post above. could you look at the questions? So I assume the deutsh connectors are the orange ones on my harness and those will connect to #31 as well as the red and black wires. Then the two plugs plugged together in the middle of the harness is where I need break apart and plug in the other adapter for the fold box? Thanks Edited by Hayinhere 4/7/2010 16:12

South Dakota | When we got our 1770 last year we got a JD kit for a 8100 it was less $$$ then just the harness. We do have vrate and gps. I would have to ask my brother what the Kit # was but if I recall right there was a big savings + you got all the mounting brackets. let me know ir you want the #.

Calhoun County, IL | The deutsch connectors are the gray connectors with orange ends. One should be a 2 pin and the other a 4 pin. Those plus the red and black wires will hook into #31 ( ISO connector). The ISO connector is what the 9 pin planter connector will plug into. I'm not sure what the 3 pin connector is used for. The 2 pin black weatherpack connector is for connecting an implement switch. The fold box adapter goes in between the plugs that are plugged together. The 4 pin black amp connector is for radar. Also you are correct about the power plug, it should be plugged into a 12V power source. I have seen the round plug that is next to the greenstar connector before but I'm not sure what it's exactly for.

Calhoun County, IL | repairman is correct. The wiring bundle is cheaper overall but since you already have the RE65674 harness it's kind of dependent on what you want to do with the planter. If you are going to do VR planting and planting maps in the future then you will need a different harness I believe. For the mapping and VR you need a mobile processor and I don't believe that the RE65674 harness can plug into the mobile processor. The prices for the pieces that are needed to complete your harness should be about $375 for the ISO connector(#31 RE65674) and $400 for the fold box adapter (#30 AA50348). That seems extremely high for just those pieces especially when you can get entire kit (just as repairman suggested) for about $850. I have attached picture of the kit that john deere sells for non-deere tractors. It has everything that you need to hook up your planter to the greenstar display and it includes mounting brackets for the display, ISO connector and the starfire receiver. This is the harness that you would need to use if you wanted to map and/or do VR. But like I said since you already have the RE65674 harness you may just want to buy the other adapters and use it. Central NE | What is that kit # if you don't mind. Is the harness for variable rate interchangeable with what I have? and my monitor? Thanks a bunch. Edited by Hayinhere 4/7/2010 19:23

Calhoun County, IL | The kit # is PF90254. Edited by Ridge Runner 4/7/2010 19:22

Central NE | I owe you all. thank you very much. Tim

Calhoun County, IL | If your planter is setup for VR then the harness from the PF90254 will work. If you use the PF90254 kit you won't need the RE60315 harness at all. Your current monitor will work with the PF90254 kit harness but if your going to do VR or mapping you will also need a mobile processor, starfire receiver, and a greenstar basics keycard.

NE SD | That 3 pin connector is used for a ratecontroller power source and foot switch.
