First one is my Dad planting corn in 1968. The tractor is an Allis D17 Series IV that we still have and still use daily. Hour meter quit at 8000 hrs and hasn't worked for as long as I can remember, and I'm 39. The planter is also an Allis and is set up as a wheel track planter. You can see one of the row units running in the tire track from the tractor and also a tire used to create a track for the far right unit. Dad continued to wheel track plant until 1977 when we switched to a 333 No-Til Special. The 2nd photo is Dad and I baling hay back in 1971. My favorite thing to do as a child was riding the loads of hay. Seeing this pic brings back fond memories. Funny thing - I always thought those loads of hay were stacked 20 bales high when riding up top, but today, as an adult, it doesn't look to be that big of a load! :) Both pics were taken in northern IL.
