Subject: Ground beef jerky

Altoona, WI
SWMBO (She, Who Must Be Obeyed) just bought a dehydrator. She got a Nesco brand which will heat to 165F which is good for jerky without having to use nitrite. We raise good beef and while I like jerky, I cannot bring myself to turn a really good cut of beef into shoe leather. We do have a copious amount of hamburger that I would have no problem drying into jerky though. I made a batch with a recipe I found online that turned out good. I'm going to experiment with it to see if I can elevate it.

I am looking for other recipes to try too. What I would really like is one with A1 Steak Sauce. If someone has a ground beef jerky recipe that has A1, I'd appreciate a copy of it please. If not, I am looking for suggestions as to how much A1 to put with a lb of ground beef to make a decent jerky. I would also be adding some salt and maybe some liquid smoke.
