| Something is killing the maple trees in my yard. The trees have places where there are nicely drilled holes lined up about two inches apart, 1/4" deep and about 3/16" diameter. They are fairly evenly spaced and they are weeping moisture/sap. Any idea what is doing this or what I can do? I do want to keep the trees.
I circled a bug in one of the pictures that is like what I am seeing around the holes in the bark, though I can't confirm that is the bug causing the damage. They might just be enjoying the free drink. I am in West Central Indiana.
I appreciate any info.
