Subject: Making bin for straight truck, ? on paint and welding

far sNSW , Australia
Bought an old 1973 Aussy made Inter Acco bogy drive with a 392 gas engine. Has a 17ft tipping tray. I can get 16t (600 bushels) of wheat in it theoretically( not legally). The tray and tipper are worth about what I paid for it. Part way through making the bin, as shown in attached photo. I'm not really experienced at welding sheet metal. Its 1.6mm. Especially verticals. Got a cheap 240A mig. 0.9mm wire. The other question is paint. I have been recommended using a 2 pack, as it will be having urea and Ammonium sulfate through it. This particular 2 pack can't be thinned down very much and its pretty thick. Don't think it will go through my gun. Painting it with a roller and brush doesn't sound like fun. They say it doesn't need an undercoat. The other question is what to clean the metal with before painting. Thanks.
