Freedom, WI | Well, for me, today starts sort of a new beginning. I got my first heifer calf! This one I received from a farm I was working for as partial payment for my time there. The granddam is one of the ones that came from our neighbors dispersal so she sort of has a little bit of meaning to us. Her pedigree is Diamondback x Atwood x Windbrook (I think I listed that right, I don't usually list pedigrees!) And she is a big December calf! I am looking forward to getting into starting to breed my own line of cows that will remain inside our families herd.
This is just the Holstein side, I am also looking forward to purchasing a Brown Swiss heifer with some grant money and getting into a new breed of cows.
